¹I must admit that neither environmental harmony nor artisanality are easy to define, and both topics as they pertain to winegrowing could comprise entire articles of their own. There are minimum standards that I personally consider essential, while recognising that it's obtuse for somebody who lives a comfortable urban life to impose inflexible standards upon an individual who supports their family by farming grapes. But all else being equal, these considerations do shape our buying decisions at Metrovino in an important way.

²This being said, I can think of at least two producers with whom we work harmoniously that were established by very wealthy people who have seemingly given their talented employees carte blanche to make the best and most honest wine that they possibly can from their respective growing regions. I can only imagine that the owners don't want to actively lose money, but it's clear that authentic wine — and not the highest rate of return on their investment — is the priority.
