A & M Quenard, Chignin
Young Guillaume Quenard stays fit by very frequent, arduous vineyard work on the steep slopes of the Savoie. For a region whose wines are little known on the international scene, Metrovino customers have warmly embraced these delicious wines. Local “cépages” like the Jacquère, better known grapes travelling under an alias (Bergeron = Roussanne) and ancient varieties like Mondeuse.
The whites are (not surprisingly) excellent with local mountain cheeses (Raclette!) but the smoky, spicy red Mondeuse is something for a meaty stew or fondue bourguignonne.
